The County Emergency Management Agency coordinates county emergency response when a disaster extends beyond the normal mutual aid boundaries of the affected community, or several communities. The county EMA Director provides guidance, planning models, home study courses, and workshops on emergency management to the local communities and their own EMA staff. The Director also hosts periodic Local EMA Director Meetings to keep the local directors provided with up to date information. Click here on Meetings for a list of scheduled meetings.
The EMA office staff is responsible for the maintaining and updating the County's All-Hazard Contingency Plan. The County Director is one of the few officials authorized to access the Emergency Alerting System. The CERT Jamboree is being held on September 18 and 19 at Camp Laurel in Readfield. This program is sponsored by each EMA have Community Emergency Response (CERT) teams. On August 10th, The World Health Organization (WHO) officially declared an end to the 2009 H1N1 Pandemic. Although flu activity has all but ended, citizens should expect to see limited circulation of the virus for some years to come. We will leave these H1N1 flu links on this website as information for you. As we reenter the 2010 flu season, the flu.gov link below will again be presenting current seasonal and novel flu information for your use. This form is used to certify completion of all small projects approved under a disaster declartion. Upon completion of small projects, it is submitteed in order t receive the Maine state share (15%) of declaration reimbursements. To obtain the form, click on Small Project Summary Certification Form.
